Though the museum may look complete from the road, the staff and volunteers of the museum are busy preparing for the opening by unpacking the collection, cataloguing and building exhibits.
The museum will feature "Treasures of the Pioneer Museum" for the summer of 2008. Treasures features a brief look at the museum's history, a small exhibition of Pioneer and Native American artifacts, Pioneer Scrapbooks and the museum's founding artifact. The exhibit is open Tuesday - Saturday, 1-5pm.
The grand opening of the museum will occur in Spring of 2009. If you are interested in a "sneak peek" join us for our First Fridays series as we unveil a new exhibit in the main gallery each month!
Throughout the summer of 2008, the Museum of the American West, a private, not-for-profit, volunteer-run organization co-located with FCPM, will have its Pioneer Village open for tours, as well as hosting special events and more! More information is available on their website or by calling 335-8778.
We are also looking for enthusiastic, well-organized volunteers to help us with our cataloguing project. If you are interested in volunteering or donating to the museum, please contact us at info@fcpm.org.
